Water Quality Stations

Water Temperature
Water temperature at the depth of the sensor. (units = °C)
Salinity
A measurement of salt content of the water at the depth of the sensor. (units = Practical Salinity Scale 1978)
Sensor Depth
Distance sensors are below the water's surface. For sensors in a fixed position attached to a pier, depth measures the tidal range. (units = meters)
Chlorophyll
Phytoplankton pigment concentration estimated from fluorescence measurements. (units = µg/L)
Turbidity
Turbidity is a measure of relative clarity of the water. (units = nephelometric turbidity units, NTU)
Dissolved Oxygen
Percent saturation of free oxygen available in the water at the depth of the sensor. (units = percent of saturation)
pH
The acidity or alkalinity of the water and the depth of the sensor. (units = -log of hydrogen ion activity)
